Why is this news, and why is this bad?
As an outfit responsible for 380,000 machines, I would hope IBM did at least SOME testing of SP2 before putting on their business critical workstations, that is just good plain common sense. I got the impression that the article was an attack against MS, but to be fair, I am sure that IBM (and all other companies with competent educated tech personal) would do extensive testing of any update or patch for one of their mission critical workstations or servers, before rolling it out into the production environment, regardless of whether it was a windows workstation or a *nix server.
