Everyday use often get little choice of Apps
As the IT department controls what goes on to the PC. It's no differnt in the Linux world as it is in the Windows world.

If you job is to enter data into a database app developed on Oracle Forms then you can do your job on Linux or Windows. If it's done from a Web client then again it doesn't matter. You can easily write memos and most any other document in Star Office.

Don't be surprised if you start seeing Autodesk and Esri products on Linux next.
