Applications and linux
You know, you're right.. the apps people want aren't for *nix.
Those amazing programs like Incredimail and Publisher just
don't exist for linux or the BSD family of OS's. And you know
what, I'm quite glad they do not.

Considering the issues of quality of many of the apps for the
windows world, I don't feel so bad running desktops based on
linux/*BSD/etc. Now I would agree that many of the applications
on the linux side of things aren't mature and don't sport enough
ease-of-use features for the average user, however I think those
issues will resolve themselves in time. Applications like
Evolution, OpenOffice and the Mozilla project are proof it can be
done. And the more delays of longhorn and the reports of the
"virus d' jour" keep up, the more the chinks in the emporer's
armor show up to reveal he is indeed wearing no clothes. And in
the case of MS, that's just not a pretty picture.
