Working towards a computer science degree here, and the one thing I can guarantee is I will never write free as in beer nor free as in speech code for MS. They must pony up first, and I don't see them as great achievers in any sense of the word. I could imagine actually finding that my "hobbyist code" no longer belonged to me by getting involved with MS.
