Possisble reason
Does no one else see a correlation between the fact that the Patent Office is allowing patents on IDEAS and this problem. How many of the potential candidates are looking at the possibility of developing an idea or process and then, when it is profitable, being hit with a patent lawsuit. It's better to be the lawyer.

We must require our legislators to restrict patents to hardware only and to the short time limits envisioned by the writers of the Constitution.
