Its a lot scarier then that even

and I'm not one of those people who predicts the end of the road, but we're sawing off the legs of America's technology industry by doing this. Your right, we have no expierence coming in. We'll have to outsource more because efficiancy demands are still going to continue. When people start retiring like crazy, which they will, we'll have to scarmble and get what we can of an IT staff here, and then try to plead with those that have no loyalty to us whatsoever. More stuff will go offshore, more sensitive information and code because we simply have no other choice. We won't have the in house programmers who know the systems and the procedures. About 60-70% of server documentation is in the employee's head. Thats a scary number that I try to convey to companies I consult and urge them to document, but its not enough. They don't get the idea, they see it as a cheap way to get what they need done, and get second rate code. I don't blame the offshore people for all of the coding problems, I've seen things here where people have deliberatley sabotaged the specs and documentation going over there. I don't really come down on them either. Of course my bosses do. Its a short term way of increasing profit. 2 things will happen, the laws of supply and demand will take effect and the prices will equal each other out. And we will also have no expierence here, because we moved our traning and efforts to India.
