What EVERY institution is designed for is always ultimately relevant. Firemen are supposed to be putting out fires. You're telling me that if your house was on fire and Krispy Kreme workers came to put it out and you asked what they were doing there and they told you that that's irrelevant..you'd accept that?

That's nonsense. So what if the Supreme Court declared it perfectly legal to run over people with a car? Would this be OK with you, so long as it was endorsed by the Supremes? Of course not. So there is a limit that you find tolerable of their power. And apparently "electing" a president without public consultation is just not above the law enough for you, no?..
