Simple you need to open your eyes and see teh big picture.

Also teh average Linux distro (and yes even teh kernel) breaks often, you would know this if you used bleeding edge distros like gentoo, slack or LFS. or even if you mess around with experimental patchsets like MM CK or love-sources. Most users will never see this because the guru's at thier distro hide this from them by creating thier own patches to get everything to compile nicely.

Im sick of this linux is a kernel BS linux is what makes it work; try running xorg or xfree (blah!) without bash and glibc.

Just like a computer is a nice shiny box without an OS, linux needs a C library and a shell to make it work; otherwise it is just a nice concept.
