With Unicode, message length is 69 characters.
The only restriction on Unicode (re: SMS/EMS) is that the message is less than 70 characters in length, though the letters can be Cyrrilic (Russian) or anything else supported by your phone/messaging device. If you are using only ASCII like characters (say for English) and don?t need Unicode, the text length limit is about 160 characters. As to behavioral stuff (animations), you would use MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service), which also allows for images and short (15 second) clips.

If you are hoping for some form of animation in your SMS/EMS, it probably won?t happen any time soon, people will just move to MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) or (if on a 3G network) 2-way video conferencing.

In parts of Europe and Asia, you can already get porn (define as you wish) via MMS!
