All ships rise as the waters rise
It is a simple matter of fact that as long as more people are using Linux, more people are potential customers. Thus, as Linux is more widely accepted , anyone that is a Linux company has a better chance of success. However, if this was Mr.Szulik's only motivation I wouldn't bother responding to you.

In the past Mr. Szulik has welcomed
competition
and specifically mentions that there is room enough for more than 1 distribution and the problems with being locked into a market with no competition.

While I would certainly hope Red Hat's CEO envisions his own company being successful, I don't think his rather noble version of success is the same as the normal perception of business success.

The fact is he has been pursuing rather noble goals over the past few years, including education, estoppels protecting rights against proprietary companies, and getting everyone connected (see army of friends, and the OSN). which is alot more than most new technology groups have done. And, defines success not just from a business scale, but a humanitarian one as well.
