Matthew Szulik suggests that the US needs to "share the wealth." Please name me one country that is more willing and able to provide humanitarian relief to other nations than the US. I can't think of a single disaster anywhere in the world that has not immediately drawn assistance from US citizens.
I have never seen statistics in this area, but I would be willing to bet that International relief organizations, such as Red Cross, UNICEF, etc. receive a greatly disproportionate share of their contributions from US citizens. Yet we are despised by much of the world.
The only thing driving this hatred is jealousy. Only the economic failure of the US will serve to mitigate these feelings. The haters don't want us to share the wealth, they want us to lower our standard of living to their levels.
