That is exactly the advantages of competition.

Although I do not like the MS products, due to their lower technological base, low quality of desing/implementation and horendous security issues, I can see that the MS dominance has put pressure on the UNIX vendors and made them become more lean and mean and forced them to lower prices.

Ofcourse, the deployment of MS products on the server side is a hemorage of good cash for products that are not ready yet for these strenuous tasks and this has hurt organizations and the IT industry alike.

MS should have stayed on the APPLICATION arena with its office suite. UNIX should remain in the data, network and compuation center and provide applications with similar functionality as that of MS office.

If MS wanted to remain an application company and it could port its products to other platforms, NOBODY would get hurt.


Bottom line, FAIR competition is GOOD.
