Sun bets on free Java tool

Talk about unfair competition...: "Java System Application Server 8 is being launched as both the reference implementation and a ready-to-go product..."

Now, talk about an unfair competition. Essentially this will mean that Sun will always have the 'most compliant' product out the door before anybody else in the Java Server market. Period. In order for you to be compliant, it must be 100% compatible with our product. Now, if this is NOT unfair, I don't know what is.

Wonder what IBM/BEA/Oracle is thinking right now...

Unfortunately, since Sun OWNS Java, there is nothing that any of these vendors can do. They can't even continue to ship existing product if they get out of the Java License. Now, the truth comes out on why Sun never completed the Java Standardization !!!

Talk about 'platform' locked in. If you go with Java, you're locked in with Sun. Just like if you go with Windows, you're locked in with Windows. So, what's the other alternatives ?
