WIndows Live CD
There used to be a product from Winternals called Administrators Pak. Allowed you to boot into a Windows modified gui. You could then perform recovery on the system. Wasn't usable for forensics as the host drive would be mounted read/write. It was also slower than Linux live disks, but it was a great tool. Since be purchased by Microsoft, the tool has been folded up into their portfolio.
