It looks like charity, but the real truth is that the main operating system in the underdeveloped countries if the pirated windows. So there is no use to buy it, just copy it and there it goes! What the russians really need is the machine, the rest they can provide for their own.
Yes, surely they could use linux -- like I do -- but.. what for? The ex-USSR are not used to pay for intellectual property, just steal it and have a good day.
