Terrible idea. What good is a PC without Windows on it? This will only put Austria and Poland further behind the curve. In fact, it will only isolate them from the technology the rest of the world uses. They will be much better off using the same thing everyone else in the world is using so they can be compatible and exchange information without the need for looking for specific applications and programs.

Linux has proven is is not usable on the desktop. Installing takes hours, then trying to configure hardware, then looking for software, downloading sources, compiling, hoping you have the right versions of libraries, then trying to install, then having to give permissions to do any of these steps. Then once you think you are ready to run the application it segfaults and causes a kernel panic. Just way too much hassle to run linux on anything especially the desktop.

When this little initiative fails, which it will, I'll be here to laugh at it.
