Considering that according to a fairly recent article on AnandTech-
(http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2085)
both NVIDIA and ATI are still testing very early betas of their 64 bit drivers. If the video drivers, and heaven only knows which others, aren't available, what's the point of releasing the OS?
