Opening non-standard attachments...
Hey PA-IT, as a workaround for your problem with downloading non-standard filenames (a thread that has since been locked), you might try using an available webmail interface to download it (if you have access to webmail). We use Exchange 2000 in our office and often receive attachments that can't be saved in our Outlook03 clients, but a quick trip to the webmail to "right-click/save target as" does the trick. I just made a test file called "test(1col.)" and had no problem downloading it through the webmail.

It may be worth a try!
