That's silly
The only OS that does not require extensions is Mac classic.

Of course, even a Mac classic web browser does require
extensions like .htm, .jpg, .gif etc.

We've been sending Mac classic files as attachments for many
years. In some cases, thousands per week. It's no big deal to
add the right extension when saving in mac classic.

It's not "dumbing down" for Windows users. It's just correct
procedure for sending attachments.
