They really should have made it clear this was a Microsoft problem
The virus infects Windows computers, which in turn flood the Google site with requests looking for email addresses. The Google computers are not infected, they just recieve the requests. And, I never saw that Google was not working. I used it a few times and never had a problem. Just goes to show you how much processing power they have and how robust the site is. This would have completely wiped out MSN or Yahoo. This shows the power of clusters running Linux. Great advertisment.
