50% CRM failure rate

This was a figure put out in an article a year or so ago.
It was mainly due to the need for highly paid vendor consultants customizing the CRM package to customer specs. (custom apps).

Me thinks the ASP market will suffer similarly becuase there needs to be very tight coupling between the software and the business process logic.
The ASP model isn't customizable enough - you end up developing a completely separate app.

It is abstacting this coupling that might improve the 50% figure (I'm working on a side project to try this).

That's my $0.02 theory.
