No, you'll hear it becoming something it wasn't
a predator. I can guess that those weren't the principals for the formation, though for a number of johnnies-come-lately, it's exactly how they position OSS, as a weapon, a tool for undermining commercial proprietary competitors then supplant them. Didn't Sun acquire StarOffice with the position of killing MS's cash cow of MS Office (wasn't that Zdnet story not to long ago??)? Then again, MS will kill off any competitor in its market space as well. Business so rarely commune well in the same territory for the same customers for that limited pool of cash money money.

No, it's not the end of Open Source. It exists, just some of it's gotten a bit forked up.
