If I'm not mistaken
"Phishing" refers solely to the practice of directing users to misleading web sites and getting them to input their confidential information fraudulently. Software surrepticiously installed on one's computer is called spyware/trojan horse/virus/worm/etc.

The article was about phishing, not spyware. No one is arguing (well, at least I'm not) that IE is more vulnerable to other types of malware than other browsers.
