``Sheesh? That?s a lot of venom to spew at a casual poster like myself. But in all honesty I use XP and keep up with updates and DO NOT follow links from email?my biggest savior is probably the fact that I don?t buy products or services through marketing that is directed to me personally.''

Can you show me the point(s) in my reply to your post where a ``spew venom'' to a casual poster like yourself?

All my statements are directed to the quality of ms platform and their ability or willingness to provide s/w that is safe for its TARGET audience.

``In reality, every product lacks some type of constraint that would allow the uninformed user to do serious harm. My cordless drill has no safety guard to prevent me from drilling a hole in my foot. Somehow, I haven?t during any of my home repair projects.''

That is true, but how many manufacturers have you seen that make it so easy to crooks to change the packaging of the product in a deceptive way that can directly harm the consumer? S/w vendors can introduce REASONABLE security measures to their products and make it very hard (if not ipossible) to be used by crooks as vehicles of deception. There are MANY SECURE platforms (UNIX, Linux, etc) that cannot be (or are extremely hard to get) compromised.

If securing a platform was technically infeasible the whole point would be moot. It IS feasible though as attested by the platforms which are secure.

``This Linux good MS bad bleating (or vice versa) is played and very childish.''

I wouldn't agree with you more. Before acusing someone of biased oppinions, make sure that yourself are NOT falling into the biasness traps. It is easy to accuse someone else for having a different oppinion as biased.

The only importand point is if oppinions are based on facts and logic or not.

If you are interested, I can give you pointers to technical literature so that personal impressions can be replaced by informed conclussions. I would be more than glad to discuss technical matters with you or answer questions.
