This looks like a fad to some extent. However, in the long run, LCD's may have staying power as a commodity product. Demand is probably blown way out of proportion in current estimates.
I expect that some of those factories will mysteriously have fires or will be unable to get sand from the supplier to make the glass sheets. Prices will artificially rise again due to supply shortage and the consumer will get bitten.
