Remarkable idea: use a client on an MS windows box to get access to grid data!

But client/server computing is one of the basic pilars of UNIX/Linux/*BSD network computing since even before the explosion of the Internet.

How hard it must be is to provide this COMMON types of services to windows clients. It's windows fault that it does not like to play easily with non-windows OSs.
