Something in the article
I was told a while back that iTunes wasn't protected and that I could use the music on any player. Well, this article just proved me right when I claimed that I had to do all sorts of conversions before I could use play the music on other players since I don't have or want an iPod.

One standard might be a good idea, but then it would be too easy to lock the media up so tight, no one would want to bother to mess with digital (which might be the real goal anyway).
