How does this eliminate shenanigans?
I don't know enough details about this, but isn't there the possibility that the electronic verification system could say that you voted one way online, while telling the vote-counters something else? This is one place where I think open-source is not only good, but also necessary. Voting machines can't be all that complex and their software and hardware should be user-verifiable.
