Microsoft Office XML formats? Defective by
design

Microsoft is trying to push new file formats
that are using ZIP and XML. Are those new
file formats any good for Office
developers ? In other words, should anyone
feel safe to make direct access to file
parts, and start getting free of running
instances of Microsoft Office and its COM
object model, usually through VBA ?

OOXML is NOT the only thing that
is "defective by design". Microsoft also
specializes in DRM.

Netflix DRM won't stream to HDD
When you buy into DRM technology, you put
control over your computer in someone else's
hands. This guarantees that unpredictable
and unpleasant things will happen. Those
with the DRM keys can decide that you no
longer have the right to access the media
you bought unless you agree to some new
terms or buy some new tech, like Major
League Baseball and Google Video have both
done recently.

In case you didn't know, DRM is embedded in
Vista. Actually, Vista is built "around"
DRM, so DRM is the core of Vista.

Annnnnnnd...... on top of that, all WinXP
patches and service packs since SP/1 has
embedded DRM in XP (a carefully hidden,
swept under the rug, and denied fact).
