85 percent have a "preference"
VeriSign's Matt Larson, who spoke at the meeting organized by the Security and Stability Advisory Committee of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), said a poll paid for by his company showed 84 percent of U.S. citizens surveyed had a "preference" in favor of Site Finder.

[...]

But Gomes and Larson, under intense questioning from ICANN committee members, refused to release details about the methodology of the survey such as the questions asked and the responses received. "The actual feedback we got directly from doing the survey is proprietary information," Larson said.

Can you say "weasel"? If they won't divulge the instrument and the tabs - standard operating procedure in the research world - then their 85 percent claim must be discarded. If they had real, sound data they would be releasing it. "It's proprietary." The last refuge of a scoundrel. Probably it was a push poll.

Amd the malarkey about "this is for the users" - puh-LEEZ, let me get my shovel! This is like turning over the administration of I-95 to Shoney's, and when it closes all the exits that have a Cracker Barrel, claim its in the interest of the travelling public. Baloney! Follow the money!
