All Trillian, GAIM, Kopete, etc. do is allow you to connect to all of your multiple different screennames using the various protocols. It will not allow you to talk to your AIM buddy using your Yahoo screenname. This new thing will allow that. The biggest advantage of that is having only one screenname for all the various protocols. Kind of like having only one phone number that rings you at work, cell, and home all at once. What other advantages it has I do not know.
