Actually
Linux deployments affect you more than you realize. But that is another topic. As far as why do I care? Simple really, even though I am a Linux user, I am still forced to use Microsoft at work. Personally I hate XP. I think it's about the worst piece of crud to come out of Redmond. Another reason, every Microsoft machine that connects to the internet poses a security risk, with longhorn that risk is perported to be mitigated by better security.

Everytime a massive worm or virus strikes the Microsoft community, I, and every other net user, have to pay with reduced bandwidth while people are out there cleaning the mess. Then there is the downtime when current systems fail (security again...) at work.

So yes I care. I care to see Microsoft actually do something right and clean their mess up. Becuase it affects all netizens.
