Another tip
I keep a shortcut to cmd.exe on the desktop, then rightclick on that and choose RunAs... whenever I need to run something as administrator. Saves a lot of keystrokes compared to the runas /user: from the Run dialog.

I will say though that Microsoft has to educate a lot more people than users regarding running as admin. I don't let my users at work run with anything higher then power user, and rarely that, but there are instances where this causes problems. For example, the TWAIN drivers for our scanners save the scanner settings in the .ini file in the TWAIN directory in the system folder. Obviously the reduced privelege account can't update this file so every time they go to scan a new batch they have to manually change the settings. It won't remember the previous settings.
