MS blip
Internet stats are +/-5% at best so it's hard to believe this small sample but....

This latest 'fix' isn't a fix.
It disables a feature.
That was the only way to stop the remote exploit.
Why not fix it?
Sounds like they can't.
XP2 is OK and presumably stupid security stuff will be handled in Longhorn but what about the rest of us?

A while back they released a fix that took 6 months of work.
Me thinks that's what it take again, all the way down the spagettii slide to kernel code.

They've hit rock bottom. They can't fix it so it's time to re-do it.
Un-Integrate IE.
Put it in a sandbox.
Forget about ActiveX over the Internet unless from trusted sites or lock it down.

They have put a lot of work into SQL server and IIS over the last couple of years and things are way better. They don't have the time for IE?

If the fix is XP2 then that should be available on Windows Update for Win9x & NT/2000.

MS, time to put the thinking hat on.

Joe
