I don't know enough about TiVO to answer your question
I'm assuming you mean ILLEGAL monopoly, as the only thing that defines a monopoly is the marketshare, not what they do with it.

I know it uses Linux, but I don't know what features it has or what kind of marketshare the possess, so I can't answer your question. I've never heard any claims that it only networks with Linux computers. If you know differently let me know.
