Bonehead white trash like myself
Well, I'm sorry you felt the need to result to name calling. I'll try to remain above that. However, you keep claiming that Microsoft stifles competition. Yet, you get bend out of shape everytime they enter a new arena to compete. This new arena is open to anyone that wants to play. But you don't want Microsoft in there? Why not? If they suck so badly, they will fail. Let them waste their money failing. Or, are you afraid that they might actually create something consumers will want?

Forget the money. Who are you or I to say who has too much? I don't ever want to live in an America where someone could tell me that I have too much money and need to be cut off. That's just fundamentally un-American to me.

So, the only other argument you could be left with is that they will use their power position to force people to use this technology. Well, they have no power position in this market. No TV maker has any reason to HAVE to listen to Microsoft. Sure mthey have money and money does talk. But no one HAS to listen. So, if Microsoft is successful in this arena and you don't like it, blame the TV makers for listening, not Microsoft for talking.

By the way, other companies use their power and money to block Microsoft. Just take a look at the failing Microsoft Smartphone. Symbian has successfully blocked Microsoft in this arena and kept carriers from really pushing the Smartphone. Many of the DVR makers have held off Micorsoft's Media Center from becoming a threat.

But what do I know? I'm just a boneheaded, white trash Senior System Engineer of a Fortune 500 company with my MBA and certifications in Microsoft, Linux, Cisco, and CISSP.

So, order another pizza, Spicoli and have it delivered to your high school driver's ed class.
