In typical ZDNet lack of information style, earlier in the article it states "Royalty rates were set for the H.264 format in May. Final licensing terms are expected to be approved in the next few weeks..." Of course ZDNet fails to mention what those rates were and who would get them. Apparently some corporation or group will receive those royalties. Can you really blame Microsoft for wanting to be the ones getting the money? Had it been Sony that decided they want $10-$20/set royalties, would you still have called for flames from the $hills?
