In response to my:
On your other point, why not a general contractor and subcontractors, a sort of network arrangement? Works for houses; why not software?

Speaking from experiance, it doesn't work very well at all. I've had homes built and there are two constants. It will always be late in delivery and will always be over budget. Something most small business simply can't live with.
That's what general contractors are for. This Old House on TV is an example of how a general contractor can bring in competent people.
Wouldn't a small business owner be pleased to know that all the problems are yours as the general contractor for IT. You would have a budget to work within, and have to obtain authorization to exceed. If you failed too often or too thoroughly, you'd lose the job.
Remember, this is exactly what a big services company like IBM is doing. That's why I'm thinking Microsft is trying to make service consortia out of its partner network. - Posted by: Anton Philidor Posted on: 07/13/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
