Figured I'd see the usual responses...
... to any Microsoft business initiative.
Let's see, security holes? Check. Incompetence? Check. Greed? Check.

I wasn't here at the time. When Microsoft was gaining better than 90% of the market, were any of you explaining why a toy operating system was never going to be allowed into businesses? Just checking.

The significance here is services. Microsoft will not become like IBM, saying they'll toss in all the software in return for a service contract. That's what they have partners for.

The interesting issue is whether a loose-knit network of resellers can provide adequate services to counter the move away from paying for software by IBM et al.

I think that because there's money to be made, this plan has a chance to succeed. Figuring out the right solutions and making them work is what people hire IBM et al to do. Particularly for smaller companies, a reseller can probably do the same thing cheaper. And sell a lot of Microsoft software at the same time.

Any comment? Or are you satisfied with the usual propounding?
