What?
---The part of Apple that makes computers has lost money for
some time, if you look carefully at the financial statements---

Care to post some evidence to back this up? All I see is several
straight quarters with double digit growths in revenue.

---The decline in market share is escalating. When you are the
only source of hardware for an operating system I think it is
prudent to be concerned when your market share is below
5%---

Again, who cares? The company is profitable. Also, you're
talking about machines with a long shelf-life, so isn't installed
base a more meaningful measure than marketshare (which only
covers units shipped over the most recent quarter)? If in quarter
1, you sell every single person in the world a computer, then in
quarter 2, your marketshare is going to drop drastically. Does
this mean you have a bad business?

And again, as a user, why should I care about marketshare? The
company is profitable and prosperous.

---Apple may well be a company in search of a product to sell
for a profit---

You mean Apple, the OEM with the highest profit margins in the
industry?

"Apple has by far the highest gross profit margins among box
makers"
