Not so fast
The quarterly financial reports for Apple is due out this afternoon after tha market close. (Tues, 7/13) The rumblings are not good for the part of applE selling desktops and notebooks. The decline in market share is escalating. When you are the only source of hardware for an operating system I think it is prudent to be concerned when your market share is below 5%, now it is much longer.

I think the iPod is a well done item, but long term it cannot save Apple. The part of Apple that makes computers has lost money for some time, if you look carefully at the financial statements. For several years Apple made their profits on trading currency, not selling computers.

While Apple may be sitting on top of a pile of cash, that cash belongs to the STOCKHOLDERS!! Apple may well be a company in search of a product to sell for a profit. There is potential with iPod, not with computers. That is the cold hard facts of business. Jobs is NOT the only stakeholder in Apple. Jobs legally and technically works for the stockholders, not himself.
