I think I know what he means
Usually an installer will create a symlink at /opt/firefox/plugins (or in whatever folder your distro chooses to install firefox). It links it to /opt/netscape/plugins, or wherever your distro default plugin folder is. The way to fix it, aside from sending your distro a pointed e-mail about how this should not happen, is to type this on a command prompt (as root):

rm /opt/firefox/plugins && ln -s /opt/netscape/plugins /opt/firefox/plugins

where /opt/firefox/plugins is the flashing broken symlink you've already found and /opt/netscape/plugins is your system's default plugin folder. Obviously you substitute the correct folder names, as I'm know Mandrake doesn't like to use the /opt folder as much as other distros do.

If you don't know where the default plugin folder is, do a search for "libflashplayer.so", which is the Flash plugin. The folder that this is in is the plugin folder.
