Not about P2P
The article wasn't about P2P, but about how the iPod is forcing WMA off of CD's. That having been said, P2P does have the potential to help artists in the long run. But, in the short term, artists are losing out on the royalties from the additional copies of songs.

--Microsoft cares.-- True, but MS is not actually harmed by the success of the iPod. They are simply not getting the opportunity to lock in another market due to viable competition. I tend to think this whole WMA thing was more or less a dry run by the RIAA to see what they could get away with. Unfortunately for them, technology has begun to obviate the need for their "services." Currently, the RIAA's best possibility for retaining their current business model is legislative. E.g. the INDUCE act.

BTW - When reading my posts, keep in mind that I tend to be highly sarcastic when posting anything about the RIAA or MS.
