Software companies have been programming for Windoes only for a LONG time now. Yes, SMART developers have been writing Windows only code for a long time too. It's easier and more profitable to write for ONE platform that has 95% share than trying to write for multiple platforms that increases your developer, QA, sales and support costs. A program written for ONE platform will always work better than one written for the lowest common denominator between a bunch of platforms. You can't take advantage of one platform's strengths since you have to make it work on some other platform that can't handle it. I've been developing programs for the last 15 years so please don't tell me cross-platform makes sense from a business sense...
And why would anyone bother with a platform with a 2% share anyway? If you write to ONE platform that has 95% share, you'll have your software run more reliable on a larger percentage of computers at any one point in time, than if you try to do cross platform development and gain 4% (say, add Linux and Mac) and find that program runs less reliable on more computers. Of course, then you have not even dealt with the fact that the Linux culture believes they DESERVE everything for free and you'll have a hard time getting any money out of your Linux version. Hmmm, tough choice...lol.
Maybe you are just upset because YOUR favorite platform is having a pathetic 2% "bad day" for the last 10 years and you are now crying because you SO want MS to just go away it's driving you out of your mind, lol.
Anytime anybody tries to justify cross platform development because it makes sense in some way it just means they hate MS and can't stand that they are the favorite OS.
How does that make you FEEL...?
Love,
