What Microsoft needs to do is add enough new features to its updated versions to warrant customers to upgrade. As much as I'm Pro-Microsoft, half their "updates" don't add enough new features.

There needs to be a good reason for an upgrade, like back in the NT days. 2000 was a SIGNIFIGANT improvement over NT (IMNSHO any company that continues to use NT with no plans for upgrading it are nothing but a bunch of cheapskates). XP, love it or hate it, offers a lot of advantages over 2K Pro (Remote Assistance, for one. Best. Invention. Ever.) and makes a compelling case to upgrade.

But then you look at, say, Office. There are some good features in Office 2K3, but not enough to really warrant an upgrade if you already use XP (Outlook, maybe, but not the rest). Another good example would be Server 2003. Has enhanced features, but not really enough to warrant an upgrade from 2000.

A better sales pitch won't help when people don't see any reason to upgrade.
