as well, and so does the rest of the family, except Grandma, she likes Mandrake. But to answer you, no I suppose the average user never will move to Linux. Which is good and bad. But as far as being behind Microsoft? I doubt it.

Linux must win in the corportate desktop arena first before it can even start to compete in the home desktop arena. Once it is accepted by corporate America and the apps start to move in. Then the development and advancement for home use will be able to move forward.

One other place Linux will need to become more prevailant is in school as a user system. This is the base needed for educating the new user base in proper usage and security. 2 points of education and 2 points to being the flood.
