You make a good point but ...
You make a good point but ... isn't it also in the interest of large software companies like MS and IBM that invest significantly in software patents as a defensive legal measure, to lobby for the elimination of these mechanisms? Wouldn?t it also be more effective to motivate many industry associations (even the CCIA e.g.) to lobby for this cause? It seems to me, that there would be a great deal of support behind an effort to eliminate software patents, and that the companies and industry associations that spearhead the effort, would be viewed in a good light, which could lead to PR and other benefits for these organizations.
