That doesn't fit at all.
What does "like" have to do with this? Its closer to: my Ford is stuck on my drive way and needs service. The Ford dealer is the only one that will do it and I can't put anything but their old Ford motorcycle (bare with me) on their lot. The one that was recalled for being defective.

But I don't expect MS to change their site and possible help out a competitor. It would be even more bad PR in a situation that is already bad. Then again, if someone was to hack MS and make it an infected site that uses the bug... that would be worse.

Now, if the situation was reversed and the open source community was on the other side of the fence, you would have so much ranting and the situation would be used for weeks against open source. But since it is an everyday MS problem, everyone is being hush hush about it. My dad's IT department didn't even know about it.

Its like the less we speak of it, the less the hackers will know. But in reality, its become the less the victims know.
