There's hope for us all.

Without some dsicernable sign of "oppression," "suffering" or "yearning to be free," we think we just might be able to make a business decision for the good of the business.

Then when you are about to stand before the people working hard to help the organization's endeavors prosper, let the cam first show a background of the simple company flag with the US (yes?) flag superimposed with dignity and a hint of exhilaration in its jaunty angle.

Walk slowly up into the center of the screen seen everywhere and look toward the audience without elation.

Do not begin by describing the process by which the decision was made. That's bureaucratic and compliments you instead of concentrating on the true issue. They'll know why you're there.

Say calmly, but with pardonable confidence: "We chose Microsoft."

Expect the explosion of joy, simultaneous revels everywhere. Freedom and choice have been endorsed, and the crowd will know that each person has been valued, all have been heard.
The lyrics to the Ode to Joy may not be generally known, but Beethoven's simple melody which in his hands carries the weight of all music will be hummed by a few.

Those same few were ready with the Funeral March from the Eroica Symphony if you had chosen otherwise. Remember, when Napoleon became Emperor, Beethoven ripped away a movement of joy and contentment, and mourned the oppression of the human spirit. But forget this; you have chosen humanely, considerately, well.

And the throng closest to you knows virtue. They approach you cheering and shouting approval. Friendly hands take you and lift you into the air.
Thrice you're flung aloft, as Russians celebrate. Each time with a new and louder cheer, fading only as you undeservedly approach a return to Earth.
You'll pass once more in front of the cam as they carry you from the room, and, though impossible, somehow you're vouchsafed the echo of all the cheers that will leave throats hoarse and people embracing who but moments before had been conniving against each other.

The victory of freedom, the victory of Microsoft overflows all negative private emotions. The quality of the world is now an endless flow of possibility and success. Freedom has won, and you played some small role in its victory.

They won't put you down until they get to the parking lot. How could work continue on a day as momentous as this?

[Now?!]
