I too feel that we will more than likely have to either deal with spam on an individual level. Asking others to do for us what we should be able to do for ourselves just risks losing personal freedoms. Granted, I don't expect everyone to be able to write their own spam filter. But the Opensource community should take advantage of this situation and step it up a bit.

Granted, DSPAM is OpenSource and does have one of the best track records, but now they need a more multiplatform client side filter.
